Relaxing with yoga is one of the most powerful ways to calm and ground your nervous system. Use this easy and gentle heart opening yoga posture called Supta Baddha Konasana to relax and unwind.
This is one of the most relaxing yoga poses. Simply put. It is my absolute favourite restorative yoga posture.
How To Do Supta Baddha Konasana
You can watch the short video below to see how it is done. The posture is quite simple. You lay back over a soft support to allow the chest to open. The feet can be placed in a butterfly position with the feet together and the knees dropping wide. Often a little bit of support under the knees to softer the stretch is a good idea.
You do not need actual yoga props. A rolled up comforter under your spine for support and a couple rolled up towels or blankets to support your knees. Cover yourself with a blanket to make it even cozier.
If you choose something thicker and higher to lay back over, be sure to give your low back lots of space. Place the bottom of the bolster or other support at your low floating ribs.

How Long
Spend a couple minutes or spend 20. The longer you stay here the more your nervous system will switch into the parasympathetic (aka where your body lets go of stress and heals its self).
You can play some relaxing yoga music as rest into this yoga posture.
I hope you enjoying this relaxing yoga for beginners video.
